A fourth generation agent, Ryan Page, Page and Sons Insurance Agency, was installed president of the Young Insurance Professionals Feb. 5 at a ceremony held during the YIPs Annual Winter Conference at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.
Page succeeds Jessica Murillo Clayton, Classic Insurance Agency, Kenner, who remains on the YIPs board of directors.
Page and Sons, a family-owned agency located in Houma, was started in 1946. Page has been active full-time with the agency since 2015.
After graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2009 with a degree in fine arts and a concentration in graphic design, Page worked in New Orleans doing graphic design.
While in New Orleans, Page worked for Naked Pizza as head graphic designer and later worked for Peter Mayer, one of the Gulf South’s leading marketing agencies, as a senior studio designer. While at Peter Mayer, he worked on award winning national advertising campaigns.
His wife, Lauren, was eight months pregnant when they decided to move back to Houma so that Page could work at the family agency as a commercial producer.
Page has been around PIA for practically his whole life, going to conventions with his father, Robert Page, who is a past president of PIA of Louisiana and PIA National.
Page’s primary goal as YIPs president is education. “Education is the key to growing both the association and the member agencies,” he said. He would like to expand the types of education seminars and programs offered through YIPs, and to that end, the association will make an announcement in the coming weeks about education opportunities for YIPs members through Dale Carnegie Training.
In addition, Page would like to do more outreach to get young people interested in the insurance industry. “I would like to get YIPs members to go to high schools and tell students about the various job opportunities available in the insurance industry,” Page told the Reporter.
Again this year, YIPs is planning to host the YIPs Bowl-a-Thon in the fall, and the YIPs Day at the Races in December, and next year, YIPs will host a Casino Night the day before PIA of Acadiana’s Annual Crawfish Boil.
When asked by the Reporter what he thought was the biggest challenge facing agents in Louisiana, he said, “maintaining relationships with the companies during the pandemic, but also staying up-to-date on the technology demands of customers.”
Page holds the CPIA designation, and is working on his CIC designation.
In addition to Page’s professional involvement, he is a board member of the Coastal Conservation Association’s Bayou Chapter, a board member of the Terrebonne Parish Recreation District 2/3, and is part of Leadership Terrebonne’s 2020 class.
He was the recipient of the 2020 Terrebonne Young Achiever Award. The award recognizes young professionals in the Terrebonne Parish community based on their outstanding career achievements, community service impact, and their future vision for Terrebonne Parish.
While in high school, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
Page and his wife have two children and are involved in the children’s education and activities.
Officers installed along with Page are Eric C. Vocke, Capstone Insurance Agency, Metairie, president-elect, and, Victoria Matherne, Acosta Insurance Agency, St. Amant, secretary/treasurer.
