Clint Gulett, a second generation insurance professional with Advanced Insurance Planning, was installed president of the Professional Agents of Louisiana at ceremonies held during the association’s 77th Annual Convention, July 17-19, at The Grand Hotel Resort and Spa in Point Clear, Alabama.
Gulett succeeds Charlie Williams, Daly Williams Insurance Agency, Jennings, who remains on PIA of Louisiana’s board of directors.
In 2015, Gulett began a two-year term as president of the Northwest Chapter of PIA, located in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of the local chapter.
As is the case with many second generation insurance agents, Gulett started working in the agency at a young age, performing such tasks as filing (when people still used paper), vacuuming and dusting. Gulett worked at the agency part-time during his senior year of high school and most summers while he was a student at Louisiana Tech University.
After obtaining a degree in marketing in 2001 and prior to getting into the insurance business full time, Gulett worked in Dallas selling software. That lasted for eight years, then he and his wife “got the bug” to move home. That’s when Gulett went to work for the family agency full time. It was 2009.
These days, he is a producer for the agency, Advanced Insurance Planning, but with five locations, he is hands-on with every aspect of the operation, including growth plans and internal procedures. The agency has offices in Monroe, Columbia, Blanchard and Shreveport. Gulett runs one of the agency’s two Shreveport offices.
Gulett has been active with PIA since 2009. Plans for his term as president of PIA of Louisiana are still a little sketchy, largely because the Delta strain of Covid-19 has re-energized the pandemic, and he has been one of the victims.
The theme for this year’s PIA convention was Come Gather. Breathe Easy. The agenda included ample time for attendees to sharpen their minds in education seminars, nurture their business relationships in social functions and the exhibit area and stroll the property.
Among the continuing education seminars offered at the convention were three hours on flood insurance, two hours from Demotech on understanding public financial information and two hours on social media best practices for agencies.
Taking office along with Gulett are Ryan Daul, Daul Insurance Agency, Gretna, president-elect, and Danette Castello, Castello Agency, Zachary, secretary/treasurer. Al Pappalardo Jr., Pappalardo Insurance Agency, Mandeville, remains the national director.
