Liz LaGrange Asher, Eagan Insurance Agency, was installed president of The Insurance Professionals of Greater New Orleans (TIPOGNO) during ceremonies held Dec. 3 at The Pearl Room in Harahan.

LaGrange Asher succeeds Chad Harrington, Hull and Company, who remains on the board of directors.

LaGrange Asher, a native of the New Orleans area, has been in the insurance business since 2010, after she graduated from the University of New Orleans a second time. She originally graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2008 with a degree in political science. Because of the state of the economy in 2008, LaGrange Asher decided to go back to school to get a degree in Spanish.

In 2010, she interviewed with Daul Insurance Agency in Gretna, and started working as an assistant CSR the day of the interview.

She was with Daul Insurance for three years before joining Gillis, Ellis and Baker which later became Gallagher. She was with Gallagher until she joined Eagan Insurance Agency earlier this year as a commercial lines account executive.

LaGrange Asher has been active with TIPOGNO since 2013 and received the Rookie of the Year award in 2016. She has served on several committees, chaired the Host and Historian committees and held most of the offices for the local association.

For the rest of her term, she hopes to hold the membership together by offering online meetings and get-togethers. With the pandemic, it has been hard to do in- person meetings and functions. She is optimistic that in the second half of her term the association can have membership drives and in-person social events.

She anticipates that, as in the past, TIPOGNO will be able to host a miniature golf charity event in the coming year benefiting an as-yet-to-be-named charity, a summer-fun event, and the installation function.

LaGrange Asher said membership in TIPOGNO has benefitted her career by providing her with the opportunity to network. “Before I joined TIPOGNO, I didn’t know anyone in the industry outside of the network of brokers that I dealt with on a regular basis,” LaGrange Asher told the Reporter, adding that the knowledge of the membership is an invaluable resource. She added that, because TIPOGNO is affiliated with the International Association of Insurance Professionals, she has made friends with people throughout Louisiana and the country.

Another big benefit to being a member of TIPOGNO, added LaGrange Asher, is access to insurance education through the International Association of Insurance Professionals. “The International Association of Insurance Professionals is big on education,” she said.

LaGrange Asher chose, Karen Crouch, Gallagher, to install the officers and directors. “After I went to work for Gillis, Ellis and Baker, Karen was the person that was most instrumental in getting me involved with TIPOGNO,” LaGrange Asher said.

She holds the CIC and the AINS designations.

Taking office along with LaGrange Asher were Debbie Lee, Americas Insurance Company, president-elect; Angela Falcone, Gallagher, vice president; Katie Liljeberg, Dave Millet Insurance, secretary, and Katy Green, Gallagher, treasurer.

Installed to the board were Stacey Campo, The Hartford; Crouch, Gallagher; Casey Darden, Americas Insurance Company; Marie Meyers, Insurance Underwriters Ltd.; Brittany Schule Orlando, Emergency Restoration, and Jeff Rhodes, Burns and Wilcox.

IIAGNO President-elect Evan Kennedy, Kennedy, Lewis, Renton and Associates, presented LaGrange Asher with the president’s gavel on behalf of the Independent Insurance Agents of Greater New Orleans.
