Krystal Mouton, the general manager/producer at Core Insurance Solutions, was installed president of PIA of Acadiana during ceremonies held Dec. 14 at Nash’s Restaurant in Broussard.
Mouton succeeds Lauri Beth Stough, an operations and production assistant with Howard Risk Advisors, who remains on the chapter’s board of directors as the immediate past president.
Mouton has seven years’ experience in the insurance industry, all with Core Insurance Solutions. She attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette studying criminal justice and worked at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s office when she was approached to work at Core Insurance. “A new sheriff was just elected, and I felt like my position at the Sheriff’s office would be cut. I was approached about a position at Core, and I just felt like this was where I needed to be,” Mouton told the Reporter.
She has been an active member of PIA of Acadiana for three years, serving on the board all three of those years.
Mouton told the Reporter, “PIA has been a great way to network with others in the industry.”
Her goal for the coming year, “is to throw a great crawfish boil, to make the crawfish boil the biggest comeback party of the year,” she said. “I can’t wait to get back to mingling with people,” she added.
The annual crawfish boil is a fundraiser for scholarships for UL Lafayette students in the Insurance and Risk Management degree program. In addition to funding scholarships at UL Lafayette, PIA of Acadiana raises money for Faith House of Acadiana. “At the installation, we raised money that was donated to Faith House of Acadiana,” she said.
Mouton feels that one of the obstacles the insurance industry faces in the coming years is a lack of companies willing to write homeowners insurance in the state. “The ones that are willing to write homeowners in the Louisiana market are very restrictive in their underwriting guidelines,” Mouton said.
In addition to volunteering with PIA of Acadiana, Mouton serves on the Voice of Producers Board for SageSure Insurance Managers.
Outside of insurance, she serves as the head of the fundraising committee for the Lafayette High School dance team because one of her four daughters is a member of the Lafayette High School dance team.
Installed along with Mouton was Dori Guidry, Core Insurance Solutions, secretary/treasurer, and the board of directors for 2022 are Jason DiMaggio, SageSure Insurance; Nick Forgey, Dwight Andrus; Tyler Redd, The Family Insurance Center, and Taylor Robideaux, Howard Risk Advisors.
Lisa Donlon, Gallagher, a past-president of PIA of Louisiana and PIA of Acadiana, installed the officers and directors.
